Types of Members

IAOMA is a professional membership organization with different classes of membership.

Application Process: We accept applications year round. Please fill out the attached form (IAOMAMemberApplicationForm) and email to IAOMAonline@gmail.com or mail to 8230 Hickman Rd Suite B, Clive IA 50325. Be sure to fill everything out to the best of your abilities, and we will get back to you within a week.

Read through the descriptions below to see how you can join our association, whether as a practitioner, student, allied health professional or general patron of acupuncture and oriental medicine!

Professional Member:

Professional members are licensed AOM professionals practicing in Iowa. They have full rights and privileges as voting members of the association. Each professional member shall be entitled to one vote on each matter submitted to a vote of the general members. The Board of Directors are chosen from the ranks of the association’s professional members, as are individuals participating on Committees. Membership is $150 for a year or $250 for 2 years.

 1st Year Professional Member:

First year professional members have the same rights and privileges as any other professional member. The only difference is that their first year’s membership is only $100.

Out of State Professional Member:

An out of state professional member must be licensed in their state or be an NCCAOM board-certified acupuncturist. They may not vote or hold office, but they can participate on committees. An out of state professional member has reduced rights and privileges, as may be specified by the Board of Directors. Membership dues are paid annually in the amount of $85.

Student Member:

A student member is an individual who is actively engaged in an acupuncture or oriental medical program at an ACAOM-accredited school or who is apprenticing with a licensed acupuncturist who has at least five years of experience. Student members can attend all general member meetings and can serve on committees. They may not vote or hold office. Membership dues are in the amount of $50.

Allied Health Professional:

An allied health professional is an individual who is a health care practitioner and who supports the goals and ideals of the Iowa Association of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture. They will receive newsletters, announcements and other information published by the Association. They may not hold office or participate in votes, but they may serve on committees. Allied Health Professional membership costs $100.

Patron of AOM:

A patron of acupuncture and oriental medicine is an individual not engaged in the study or practice of acupuncture but who supports the aims of the Iowa Association of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture. Any person or organization wishing to support the Association may subscribe to its newsletters, announcements and other information published by the Association. They may not hold office or vote. They may serve on committees. Patrons of AOM are broken into different tiers of patronage, starting at $150.
