John Emanoil, Licensed Acupuncturist, owner, and practitioner of Bodhi Acupuncture and Wellnes of Des Moines graduated from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago. John received a Masters in Science and Traditional Oriental Medicine. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Indiana University, Bloomington, he spent several years working in the technology industry for 3Com and Seimens. After John recovered from a back injury through Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine he decided to followed his heart, which led him study Traditional Chinese Medicine at Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago. The intensive program focused on Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Herbology, Tui Na (Chinese massage), Medical Qigong, Masters in Science and Nutrition. Over 3,000 hours including extensive clinical practice and training in the treatment and prevention of disease.
John is an active member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and of the Illinois Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ILAAOM) and Iowa Association of Oriental Medicine. John is NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) certified. In addition to school John has had specific traininng in Sports Medical Acupuncture, Acupuncture for Fertility, Facial Rejuvenation, Bio-Medical Acupuncture, Pain Management, Acupuncture for Weight Loss, among others.
After owning and practicing at the successful Bodhi Acupuncture and Wellness in Chicago, John and his family decided to move to Des Moines, where he opened Bodhi Acupuncture and Wellness of Des Moines. His family, Melissa, Bodie and Burke “ love it in West Des Moines. There is so much nature and nice, welcoming people. It is our goal to have every patient get well physically, emotionally and mentally.” Community involvement is very important also. ” Sometimes Acupuncture can add a little to family and community connections, Connecting and being a part of something unique and so powerfully effective can help a community grow stronger.”
