Laura started working in health care while she was in high school. Early on she realized that she had a passion for helping people with their health. After graduation, Laura joined the US Navy and served 10 years as a Hospital Corpsman. During her service, Laura traveled to the Middle East and completed tours in Great Lakes, IL and Pensacola, FL.
Upon her separation from the Navy, Laura looked into alternative forms of medicine which brought her acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). She began her acupuncture training at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine ranked #2 amongst all acupuncture schools in the United States. During her time in school, Laura completed internships at University of California San Diego and a clinic that provided free acupuncture to military Veterans and their families. She graduated from school in August 2015 with her masters degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM). She is nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. (NCCAOM) and is licensed by the Iowa Board of Medicine to practice acupuncture in the state.
Laura believes that the mind and emotions play an integral factor in the development and resolution of illness. Her goals as a health care provider is to inform people about the connection between the mind and body and educated her patients about the importance of a balanced lifestyle.
